Amancio, Two Faces on a Tombstone
(Tom Murray , USA, 2009, 64min) As a young boy, Amancio Corrales immigrated from Mexico to Yuma Arizona with his parents in search of a better life. Gay and Hispanic, Amancio dreamed of one day being a performer in Las Vegas, but his dream was cut short on May 6, 2005 when Amancio’s body was found floating in the Colorado River near Yuma. He had been brutally beaten and stabbed. ?He was just 23 years old. For the first time, ?the story of one man’s journey to seek justice for the murder on behalf of Amancio’s family and friends is revealed in this intriguing documentary AMANCIO...Two Faces on a Tombstone contains interviews with Amancio’s family and friends and follows the three year journey local activist Michael Baughman took seeking justice on behalf of a young man he had never met. Filmed in Yuma, one of America’s hottest and driest locations, the documentary offers a fascinating and poignant look into a community forced to confront issues not often discussed such as sexual orientation and gender expression. Could justice be served in this environment? This screening will be the kick off event for Long Island’s Transgender Day of Remembrance week of activities. Amancio’s producer Bruce Presley will be in attendance. With Scent (David Maurice Gil, USA, 2009 5 mins) A man searches for a former lover, by using his former lover's scent.

Queers For Fears
(shorts program, 88 minutes) Just keep telling yourself, “It’s only a movie, only a movie.” A shorts program for homos that enjoy the horror genre, and not for the faint of heart. However if the films are to intense you can retreat into the “cowards corner” for respite, just follow the yellow foot prints, and repeat “its only a movie.” This program includes Far From Home, (Alan Rowe Kelly*, USA, 2009, 45min) Making its gay film festival debut at this screening, Alan Rowe Kelly's controversial short horror tale, a Far Cry from Home, is about a young urban gay couple (Kelly & Don Money) traveling through the NJ wilderness and stop at a rural antique hex store. What they don’t realize is that the backwoods store owners (Katherine O'Sullivan, Jerry Murdock & Benzy) are a religious sect of homophobic, crazed killers who - under the local rule of the Preacher Man (Terry West) - have ‘extended’ plans for our vacationing couple by doing the ‘Lord’s work’. A horror film in every sense by using ‘hate’ as the ultimate killer.
